Historic Launch of the African American Franchise Association at the International Franchise Expo 2025.

New York, New York, Monday, June 21, 2025:- On May 29, 2025, the African American Franchise Association (AAFA) marked its official debut at the prestigious International Franchise Expo (IFE) held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. This milestone event represents a significant step forward in empowering African American entrepreneurs through franchising opportunities, resources, and advocacy.

The African American Franchise Association (AAFA) is committed to empowering African American entrepreneurs by providing access to education, resources, and opportunities in the franchising industry. We strive to dismantle systemic barriers, foster economic growth, and create pathways for sustainable success and generational wealth in African American communities.

The launch ceremony drew industry leaders, franchisors, franchisees, business professionals, and enthusiastic attendees, underscoring the importance and timeliness of AAFA’s mission to amplify African American participation and success in franchising.

Clem Yeboah, CEO of the AAFA, emphasized the vision behind the association: “The establishment of AAFA is a historic move towards leveling the playing field in franchising. Our goal is to ensure African American entrepreneurs have equal access to the resources, education, and opportunities needed to thrive in the franchise industry.”

Arnold Dixon, President of the AAFA, highlighted the strategic initiatives the organization will undertake: “Today, we launch more than an organization; we launch a movement. AAFA will actively foster partnerships, mentorship programs, and provide vital support systems designed specifically for African American entrepreneurs, driving sustainable business growth and economic empowerment.”

  2. Eric Roy – Franchisor, Surf’s Up
  3. Francine Holt – Franchisor, Holt Computer Training

These trailblazing franchisors are paving the way for the next generation of African American entrepreneurs. Hakika DuBose Wise is revolutionizing the wellness industry with KIKA Stretch Studios, which specializes in assisted stretching and holistic health. Eric Roy, with Surf’s Up, is showcasing how a culturally rich and flavorful dining experience can become a scalable franchise concept rooted in community values. Francine Holt is empowering students and professionals alike through Holt Computer Training, a franchise designed to bridge the digital divide with accessible and practical tech education. Each of these leaders brings a unique, impactful approach to franchising that reflects the depth and diversity of the African American business community. Throughout their presentation, they shared powerful insights, personal success stories, and valuable lessons from their journeys.

The event featured informative sessions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities designed to educate attendees about franchising, best practices, and strategies tailored for African American entrepreneurs.
